Music for Valentines Day

One essential Valentine’s Day element that can make or break your evening is the music. Without something in the background to put your sweetheart in the mood, you might as well consign yourself to a life of misery and loneliness, if you haven’t already.
For those who are lazy and can’t seem to find songs with the words “love” in them, here are 10 suggestions to get you reeling with the feeling. This does not guarantee a perfect Valentine’s Day, but it will prevent a disastrous one. For many of you, that’s close enough:
1. “Your Song” by Elton
2. “If I Fell” by the Beatles
3. “Moon River
4. “You Don't Know Me” by Ray Charles
5. “Could It Be I'm Falling in Love” by the
6. “Embraceable You” by Oleta
7. “A Song for You” by Leon RussellReleased
8. “My Cherie Amour” by Stevie
9. “In Your Eyes” by Peter GabrielLloyd Dobler
10. “Llorando (Crying)” by Rebekah del RioHey

Barbie and Ken splitting after 43 years

Barbie and Ken splitting after 43 years
Mattel reports that dolls will remain friends Barbie and Ken will be spending time apart, Mattel sources say.
Just like J.Lo and Ben, the romance is over for Barbie and Ken.
'After 43 years as one of the world’s prettiest pairs, the perfect plastic couple is breaking up. The couple’s “business manager,” Russell Arons, vice president of marketing at Mattel, said that Barbie and Ken “feel it’s time to spend some quality time — apart.”
“Like other celebrity couples, their Hollywood romance has come to an end,” said Arons, who quickly added that the duo “will remain friends.”

Arons denied that there was any truth to rumors that the breakup was linked to the Cali (as in California) Girl Barbie, arriving in stores now. To better reflect her single status, Cali Barbie will wear board shorts and a bikini top, metal hoop earrings, and have a deeper tan.
This new style already has attracted a new admirer, Blaine the Australian boogie boarder.
Barbie — the most popular fashion doll in the world, according to toy maker Mattel — met Ken on the set of a TV commercial in 1961, and they have been inseparable ever since.
Arons hinted Wednesday that the separation may be partially due to Ken’s reluctance to getting married. All those bridal Barbie dolls in toy chests around the globe are really just examples of Barbie’s wishful thinking, he explained.
Another possible factor is Barbie’s career. The doll who was “born” Barbie Millicent Roberts in 1959 has been everything from a rock star to military medic, and she’s currently marketed in more than 150 countries. According to Mattel, every second, three Barbie dolls are sold somewhere in the world.
So where does that leave Ken? Said Arons: “He will head for other waves.”

Not like it Used to be

Did you know

Valentine day originated in 5th Century Rome as a tribute to St. Valentine, a Catholic bishop.
For eight hundred years prior to the establishment of Valentine's Day, the Romans had practiced a pagan celebration in mid-February commemorating young men's rite of passage to the god Lupercus. The celebration featured a lottery in which young men would draw the names of teenage girls from a box. The girl assigned to each young man in that manner would be his sexual companion during the remaining year.
In an effort to do away with the pagan festival, Pope Gelasius ordered a slight change in the lottery. Instead of the names of young women, the box would contain the names of saints. Both men and women were allowed to draw from the box, and the game was to emulate the ways of the saint they drew during the rest of the year. Needless to say, many of the young Roman men were not too pleased with the rule changes.
Instead of the pagan god Lupercus, the Church looked for a suitable patron saint of love to take his place. They found an appropriate choice in Valentine, who, in AD 270 had been beheaded by Emperor Claudius.
Claudius had determined that married men made poor soldiers. So he banned marriage from his empire. But Valentine would secretly marry young men that came to him. When Claudius found out about Valentine, he first tried to convert him to paganism. But Valentine reversed the strategy, trying instead to convert Claudius. When he failed, he was stoned and beheaded.
During the days that Valentine was imprisoned, he fell in love with the blind daughter of his jailer. His love for her, and his great faith, managed to miraculously heal her from her blindness before his death. Before he was taken to his death, he signed a farewell message to her, "From your Valentine." The phrase has been used on his day ever since.
Although the lottery for women had been banned by the church, the mid-February holiday in commemoration of St. Valentine was still used by Roman men to seek the affection of women. It became a tradition for the men to give the ones they admired handwritten messages of affection, containing Valentine's name.
The first Valentine card grew out of this practice. The first true Valentine card was sent in 1415 by Charles, duke of Orleans, to his wife. He was imprisoned in the Tower of London at the time.
Cupid, another symbol of the holiday, became associated with it because he was the son of Venus, the Roman god of love and beauty. Cupid often appears on Valentine cards.

A day out with a four year old

On Saturday Scott and I took my little sister Chelsea out for the day. We start the day off by going to New farm park. Which was fun but you should check out some of the new play ground. (rock climbing and spinning thing). We decided to go for a boat ride to south bank so she could go for a swim. (next time will be catching a taxis, as the boat hasn't got aircon or shade) South bank was nice but hot. We all had a nice lunch and decided to go home. After getting into the car and drive off Chelsea was asleep in two min.
Once we drop Scott off at his place, Chelsea and I decided to go for a swim at Chermside pool. For $7 each you could spend all day here. They have very good slides, fun for the whole family.
On Sunday I went to Redcliffe for a swim with my family. It was getting a bit to hot in the sun so we decided to go and get some lunch. (somewhere in the aircon) After a nice lunch I decided to go and see Mr Ben Priebe. Ben was very nice to give me his DVD's while he traveling. So after I said goodbye to him it was time to go home and have e shower and watch the whole first season of the Simpson.

its was someone birthday on Saturday!!

It one of my good friend SUZIE 20th Birthday
Happy Birthday girl

Friday

At 11.30am we had a good bye party at work for bob. Whos bob you may ask? Well I didn't know who bob was until Friday but we like bob because of his effort he put into the job over the last 26year we got to have a party! So thankx bob. After the party and many drinks I went home to see my Mummy, step father, brother, little sister, my cat and the dog. Who had so came up from Young in N.S.W. It was great to see them, after we said the hellos, and how are you? We went off to buy a house. We had a look at three houses and they decided on the last one which happen to be the one in Kallangur. I must say it is a big home and my bedroom is at the other end of the house (thank god). So on the 4 of March I shall be moving AGAIN. But I don't have to pay rent or power or food. All my pay will be going into saving for my trip oversea.
